Baby Gift

My daughters teacher having her first child soon. I made her a set of thank you cards in a box. I didn't have a pattern for the box. I just figured out how big I wanted the pocket to be and went from there. Each pocket is approximately 6" long x 1" wide x 2.5" deep. I used a straight piece of paper to bind the two pockets together. A portion of the straight piece is adheared inside the pocket. I made her 8 cards with envelopes. I could have fit more in the box if I needed to.

The cards are 6" x 3" and cut from a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock. The decorative square was made using the Scallop Trim Straight and Corner Punches. The straight punch is available for FREE thru the end of March with a $50 order. The giraffe image is from the Fox & Friends Stamp Set. The basket and sentiment are from the Level 2 Hostess Stamp Set in the Occassions Mini Catalog. I stamped the giraffe with Barely Banana rocked in Apricot Appeal. The same giraffe is stamped on the outside of the envelope. The sentiment and basket are stamped in Creamy Caramel and then colored in lightly with the thin tip of the Stampin' Write Markers. I also added some grass with the Certainly Celery Stampin' Write Marker.

The background was run through the Big Shot with the SU! Textured Impressions Folder found on page 35 of the Occassions Mini Catalog. There is a piece of Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon tied around the background. The image panel is put on with dimensionals. I punch a scallop oval hole in the front of the card so you could so the "thank you" attached to the inside. The box is held shut with a piece of Wide Pretty In Pink Satin Ribbon.

Valentine's with Daughter

Valetine's Day has come and gone. Mine was so fun this year. I sat down with my daughter one night and made Valentine's for her Kindergarden class. We had to make 20 of them. Her face just lights up when I let her stamp with me.
We started off by stamping some handmade pattern paper. We used the "I {Heart} Hearts" stamp set, current on promotion for Haiti Relief. We stamped the main hearts in Real Red and Pixie Pink. I also put some outline hearts on in Basic Grey. Next she put together the pieces for the sentiment tags, while I preped the treat cup holes.

I used a 1-3/4" circle punch for the hole in the pattern paper we made. I then traced the hole onto the card base, so I knew where to punch the treat cup hole. She helped to cut out the pieces for the candy machine and put dimensionals on the back. When we had everything ready, she would take the backs off the dimentionals and put the pattern paper on the card front over the treat cup.

While she was writting her name on each one with a Stampin' Write Marker, I closed each card with some simple snail adhesive and assembled the slider pieces. A little bit of ribbon made it easy for the kids to put the tab and get the candy out. She helped me fill all the treat cups and put the sliders in. She was so excited to take these to school. They were a big hit with all the kids and the teacher.

Easel Thank You

A couple of weeks ago the power had gone out in our house for 4 days. We were lucky enough to have several friends willing to house us until power was restored. I made this card as a thank you for their generosity. It is an easel card.

Easel cards are easy enough to make. The main base of my card is 4-1/4" by 11". I scored the cardstock at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2" I attached another 4-1/4" by 5-1/2" front to the card. To help it stand open I put a button inside the card with a mini glue dot. You can use just about anything to help it stand open. Even just a few layers of your cardstock inside will be enough.
I stamped the woodgrain background onto my cardstock. The sentiment is from the Define Your Life Stamp Set. I punch a couple of holes with the slot punch to put my ribbon through. The ribbon is held in place by a couple of sivler brads. The edges were punched with the new Scallop Trim Punch. This punch is available for FREE with a $50 product purchase until the end of March. Contact me or a demonstrator in your area to learn more about the Sale-A-Bration promotion. The pink area inside the card was used for writting my thank you after I took the photo.

Stamping Club Techniques Month #1

As I said last week, I have been blessed with a new group of ladies to share stamping with in my club. Several of the ladies are beginners, so we are starting with the basics. In our first month, we focused on a simple but fun technique of masking. Masking is when you block part of an image while stamping the next so they appear to be layered on one another.
In this case we masked off the 3 designer hearts and stamped the dotted heart shape over them. When the masks were removed the dotted heart appears to be behind the first 3. We also learned about the new edge punches and stamping with markers. To add a little something we used the mat pack templates to put holes down the left side and finish it off with some faux stitching. The main image panel is up on dimensionals (my FAVORITE accessory). The Regal Rose panel was put through the Big Shot with the SU! Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Folder. The raised image was then patted with a White Craft Pad to help the impression stand out.

The second card we made used some basic stamping in solid colors and the sweet treat cups. I wanted to be able to get the candy out without ruining the card, so we put a slider piece inside the card. To make the hole in all the layers I showed everyone how to use the Circle Scissors Plus and Glass Cutting Mat.

The I {Heart} Hearts Stamp Set is on promotion to help support Haiti Relief. If you purchase this stamp set in either wood mount or clear mount by the end of February, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to the Haiti Relief Effort.

Bag tags

I have been blessed in my business lately to start a new round of my stamping club. We met for the first time a couple of weeks ago. They are such a nice group of ladies. When the first club order came in the other day and I wanted to do something special for them. I put each of their orders in an SU! reusable shopping bag with a handmade tag. The shopping bags were available to demonstrators and feature SU! exclusive artwork. These bags featured this years In Colors with the "Circle Circus" stamp designs.
I got some new Big Shot dies a little while back and this was the perfect opportunity to try them out. Since the big shot will cut through many types of material I was able to make a nice thick sturdy gift tag. I cut the flaps of of the shipping box the order came in and ran it through the Big Shot with the Scallop Square Clear Die. I stamped the first initial for each lady and decorated it with flowers cut from the Flowers Layers #3 Die. To top the flower I used a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button. I tied a piece of linen thread through the holes and attached it with a bit of sticky strip. A hole punched in the corner with the Crop-A-Dile and a piece of 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon and it is done.
